Science plus unrequited love divided by Dutch courage. That’s her equation tonight and she’s sticking by it.
Sticking by it as she sprints down the corridor, practically tripping over herself to catch up to the girl. The girl, italics and bold, divisible by two.

She stammers out a hello and feels sweat begin to bead on her palms as quickly as the last syllable leaves the little curve of her lip— right through the tiny gap in her left canine where she hides all the words that never form. Funny that she can say anything at all at this point, she thinks.
A thousand neurons firing in her cursed brain and it refuses to spit out anything else. Faulty management in some departments a likely cause.
The girl simply nods, her pink mouth refusing to curve up into a smile a revealed all those secrets hidden in the perfect spaces between her own pearly whites.
Reaction time: zero point six seconds.
She grasps at nothing. Equation unsolvable. X can’t be found. Sing till it’s over.
